Decoration Tips for Maximising Your Office Space

With workplaces getting smaller and smaller over time, it is only natural to look for ways to optimise the space you have available. This applies whether you are renting an office or you own your corporate environment. If you are thinking about how to make your work setting more comfortable and spacious, here are a few helpful decorating options to give you a much better sort of office.

Make Use of Workstations

While the traditional desk has been around for ages, it is far from the best solution. Instead, you should look to the world of workstations: office furniture that combines the humble desk with shelving, drawers, filing cabinets and much more. Everything that an employee could need can be found in these sorts of useful workplace furnishings.

When shopping for a decent set of workstations for your office, you should think about the following considerations:

  • The size available to each staff member in your office
  • The equipment that they use on a regular basis
  • The style of both the item and your workplace decor
  • The price of the workstation and how much you can afford

These types of compact work settings can also improve productivity as your employees have everything on hand without having to get up to do their tasks.

Mezzanine Floors with Storage Areas

If your business has been up and running for a while, the amount of documents you have stored may pile up and up while the space you have remains the same. Fortunately, there is a better solution than simply purchasing some new filing cabinets, especially if you are lacking in space. Some companies sell mezzanine floors that come with storage systems underneath. This means that you can retain the same amount of floor space in your cheap serviced office while increasing the document storage options available. Remember though that this is only a viable choice if your workplace has high ceilings. The floor will be elevated here so your staff will have to have enough head room so that they can safely and comfortably work on top of the mezzanine flooring.

Open Office Design

Another way to improve the space in any corporate setting is to modify the entire office layout. Instead of using the traditional structure of cubicles and individual spaces, it is much more efficient to have an open office design instead. In this way, the area surrounding the workstations will be communal, able to cater to a number of employees at the same time. When shifting your furniture around (or adding anything new) remember the following important points:

  • How many staff members do you have in the office each day?
  • How much space do they need to remain comfortable at work?
  • How much communal area is remaining for use afterwards?
  • How can you utilise this space in the most efficient manner?

By taking all of these matters into account, you can then decorate your office with the right sort of open plan design.

Use Large Windows

Finally, lamps and lights can take up space that you’d rather use for something else. If possible, it is better to let in some natural light through large, open window panes. This can be quite difficult to do though, especially if you are renting a workplace. If possible though, installing some windows is a great way to free up desk space while making the entire workplace a whole lot friendlier. This will, in turn, boost staff morale too; a clear example of how some space-saving office redesign can have other, equally important benefits later on. Add a little light and experience a much better office as a result!
