Planning To Move Your Business Location

When you are looking to relocate your business, it is essential that you do this as quickly and easily as possible. Not only will it make sure that there is the least amount of stress possible, but it will also help to prevent as little disruption to your business as possible. You will have two choices when moving premises, you can arrange this and do it yourself, or you can look to bring in a professional removal company. Which method is best is going to be determined by both the distance that you are moving and also the type of business you are, whether you have any heavy machinery or anything else which is going to be awkward to move. You will need to consider this carefully before committing to a decision either way.

Arranging the move yourself

If you are going to arrange the move yourself then you are going to have to come up with a plan and get yourself prepared. This is also going to include by plenty of supplies as well;

  • Cheap packing boxes
  • Packing material
  • Marker Pens
  • Equipment for lifting

You may be able to do the move over a couple of weeks before you finally move everything and open up shop in your new location. You may wish to get a few staff in over a weekend and pack up things which can be moved and are not essential for the everyday running of the business. Things such as records and archives can be packed up and moved quite easily. If your business is still open you would not be advised moving all of your stock until the very last minute. Depending on the type of business you have, you may already have some vehicles which you can use to load all of your things on to. Paying workers overtime may be a very costly affair so you may want to consider closing your business for one day and get all of your staff to assist with the move. You will need to warn your customer well in advance though if you are looking to do this. This will help save you some money though and means you do not have to pay any overtime to your staff at all. Then once you have moved everything you need to get your new premises open up and ready for business as soon as possible to make sure there is as little disruption to your business as possible.

It may be a lot easier all round if you use the services of a professional removal company to move your business. This can even be done on a weekend so as not to create too much of a disruption to the everyday running of your company. You will need to get quotes from at least three or four different companies and then compare the costs quoted. You will also need to make sure that the companies offer adequate insurance to make sure that all of your equipment and belongings are covered sufficiently in the case of accidental loss or damage. This is where a lot of companies can save some money by offering less comprehensive insurance. Then when you have decided on the company you are going to use, you will need to set a date. Make sure that you let all of your customers know well in advance and also that they have your new address. Once that date arrives you will just need to stand back and watch as the company come in armed with plenty of packing boxes and tape and pack everything away securely. Once the truck or truck are loaded, they will then transport everything to the new premises and unload everything putting it where you instruct them to. This is certainly a much less stressful way of moving, but can be more expensive than doing it yourself. What is most important though is that you use the method which s the least disruption to your business.
